Ballet, Tap/Jazz Combo, Jazz, Lyrical, Starbound and Encore Team Coach.
Abi is from Stephen, a small town in Northwestern Minnesota. She has been dancing for twenty-some years (I lost count around 25…) She started dance lessons in her hometown at the ripe old age of two and a half, and at eight years old started taking private ballet lessons with Kyle Tucker of the Oakland Ballet in Grand Forks, ND. Shortly after beginning lessons with Mr. Tucker, she began dancing with the North Dakota Ballet Company and performed in the company shows and events around the community. She continued her training there for many years and studied with Mary Ellen Weir and Theresa Knox of NDBC and Ronn Guidi of the Oakland Ballet. There she studied ballet, jazz, modern, musical theater, and tap. She was also a member of the Polish National Alliance dancers of Warsaw, ND. With the PNA dancers she performed all over North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota in festivals and parades.
Over the years she has danced in numerous shows and productions with the North Dakota Ballet Company and the Oakland Ballet including Hansel and Gretl and the Nutcracker. She has also performed with the Crimson Creek Collegiate Players in Cabaret and Oklahoma!. Her favorite roles have included the “Snow Queen” in the Nutcracker, and “Dream Laurie” in the musical Oklahoma!.
Abi moved to Missouri with her husband in 2007 to attend Stephens College as a dance major. There she took classes in various styles including ballet, jazz, tap, modern, Irish step, West African, East Indian, and Flamenco. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance in 2009 and liked Missouri so much that she and her husband decided to start a family here and are the proud parents of an 11 month old baby boy named Max.
Abi is extremely excited to be teaching at 5-6-7-8 Dancenter and is looking forward to working with the competition teams as well!
